1A Arts Carers Art Group
In partnership with 1A Arts in Holborn, Creative Carers Collective have run a series of summer workshops. Bringing the two groups together we have had a fantastic summer. Whilst our program wasn’t as extensive as 2018 we have created a few excellent creative activities for carers to take part in.
Plein Air Art at the Calthorpe Project August 2019
A fantastic morning spent at the Calthorpe Project. Members drew and painted some of the beautiful scenes in this urban oasis just off Grays Inn road. Some very inspiring artwork was created and the styles and inspirations were all so different!

Organised and led by Creative Carer Fran this was a fantastic opportunity to visit the house of poet Keats on Hamstead Heath, A fun time was had by all. There was a tour of the house and a chance to have a good walk around.
In this workshop Richard demonstrated abstract landscape painting in oil paint. We had a fantastic turnout and all participants got stuck in creating some amazing paintings. Using palette knifes and other tools the artists worked from photographic references and created inspired artworks. Everyone involved created a unique work of art and embraced the process fully.

Creative Carer Jill introduced this wonderful art form and led this amazing workshop on Hoop Weaving. Participants learned how to use the Hoop Weaving system and worked some beautifully coloured wool to create these fascinating works of art. As you can tell by the pictures this is really unique and exciting craft and many were inspired to explore it further.

There was a great day out at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Being able to walk around the show with Carers and hear about their favourite works of art was really great. Curated by Grayson Perry the exhibition was vibrant and thought provoking. It was lovely too to all catch up and experience this together.

To round off our Summer Workshops Program and to celebrate the group we held an Open Group and Picnic. The weather was perfect and we had a great turnout. Family members came along and we had some new members join too. We shared ideas about what we could do in the future and reflected on the workshops and year so far. A perfect morning!
